Kumatiya are the dried beans of the kumat tree, another of the Thar desert's quiet gifts to Rajasthani cooking. Hardy, protein-rich, and deeply traditional, these beans have nourished generations of Marwari families through seasons when little else would grow. Ramjeevan has carried them since 1932.
Earthy and robust in flavour, kumatiya is most loved in the classic combination of Ker, Sangri, and Kumatiya, the dry preparation that defines the festive Marwari table. On its own it makes a hearty, rustic sabzi rich in plant protein.
Each batch is cleaned and hand-sorted at our Jodhpur facility, free of grit and stones, ready for your kitchen.
How to Use
Soak overnight until softened, rinse well, then cook with ker, sangri, and spices in the traditional dry Marwari style. May also be boiled and tempered as a simple sabzi.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Keeps well for several months.
