About Us

A shop, a name, a promise

In 1932, in the main city of Jodhpur, Ramjeevan Agarwal opened a small shop with one belief: that quality should never be compromised.

India was still under British rule. The country had not yet known independence, and the modern grocery industry as we know it did not exist. What existed was the trust between a shopkeeper and the families he served, built one transaction at a time, one season at a time, one generation at a time.

He named the shop after himself. It was a promise he could not walk away from.

The work of four generations

What began as one man's enterprise has, over ninety years, become the careful work of four generations of the same family.

The founder's choices set the standard. His son refined it. His grandson expanded it, taking the name beyond the lanes of Jodhpur and into wholesale supply across the region. Today, the third and fourth generation work side by side, carrying the shop forward into a new century while holding firm to what made it worth carrying forward at all.

The address has stayed the same. The family has stayed the same. The standard has stayed the same.

What we sell, and why

We are traders and wholesalers of premium dry fruits, spices, and groceries. Across nine decades, our shelves have come to be known for a few things in particular.

Hing. Above all else, Ramjeevan is known for its hing. Customers come to us specifically for it. Families across Jodhpur, and increasingly across India, reach for our hing first when they unpack their groceries. There is no item that has defined our name more.

Dry fruits from origin. Almonds from California. Walnuts from Kashmir. Pistachios from the orchards of the American west. Anjeer from Afghanistan. Cashews graded W240 from India's coastal belts. We know each source by name and choose each lot by hand.

Spices ground the old way. Our chai masala, milk masala, and house spice blends are ground in small batches at our Jodhpur facility, using recipes refined across generations of family kitchens before they ever met a customer.

Rajasthani specialities. Ker, sangri, and kumatiya, the holy trinity of Marwari desert cuisine, sourced from the Thar and sorted by hand. These are the items no national brand carries with the care they deserve.

How we work

We do not chase fashion. We do not chase volume at the cost of quality. We have not, in ninety years, found a reason to.

Every batch that enters our facility is inspected. Every pouch that leaves carries the same name the founder put on the door in 1932, which means it carries his standard too. We refuse stock that does not meet it, even when refusing costs us money. The shop has survived this long precisely because of that habit.

When customers tell us our products taste like the ones their grandmothers used to bring home from this same shop, we take it as the highest compliment our work could earn.

The promise still stands

Nine decades after the shop first opened, the work has changed in many ways. The customers reach us through phones now, not just footfall. The orders ship across India, not just across Jodhpur. The family has grown, the team has grown, the range has grown.

What has not changed is the promise the founder made when he put his name above the door. We will not sell what we would not keep in our own kitchens. We will not compromise the standard, even when no one is watching.

That promise is the only inheritance worth keeping.
We intend to pass it on intact.
